Hi there. I'm SpiderWolf. Let me tell you a bit about myself.
I'm a writer and a bass player (I love the blues!). I brew beer and mead, and I'm studying Herbalism. I'm 23, live in Richmond, Va-- the city that always naps. Wascal and I are handfasted. On the 2 year anniversary of our handfasting, -- the SpringEquinox -- we will be legally married. March 23, 1996, to be exact. We have 2 cats, Karma and Gabby. Hopefully we will move to Oregon next Summer.
Since I get asked frequently what my nickname means, I'd like to take the time and explain it. No, I dont mean a Wolfider, or even a wolf with spider legs *grin*. According to Native American myth, the Great Spider wove the fabric of the world into existence. Through her, we are all one: connected and related. She is a weaver, as well as a Creatrix. In Native American myth, the Wolf symbolizes a teacher, and is linked, in some tribes, to spirituality. So, to sum up, SpiderWlf basically means WeaverCreatrixTeacher. Theses are very powerful and real totems to me; I am a writer, and one day, I will also be a teacher.
I should say something next about what I do in real life. I've been studying Medieval Literature for 6 years now. Hopefully, I'll be done with undergrad school soon; I have done a bit of graduate work already. My two main interests in Medievalism are the Arthurian Legends, and Classical Anti-Feminist Ideology, which was popular at the time. My minor is Women's Studies. Untill the job market for English Professors gets better, I will teach High School (Early British Literature).
Lastly, I should say something about my Spiritual Path. I'm a Witch, been Wiccan for about 5 years. I'm of the Celtic Tradition. Before I became a Witch, I was Hindu; still am. People ask if Wicca and Hinduism conflict with each other. I dont think so, it's amazing how well they compliment each other. (For a serious exploration of Hinduism, I suggest the Hindu sacred texts: The Upanishads, The Vedas, and the Bhagavadgita.) Currently, I'm solitary; in the past I've worked with covens. It's hard to keep a working coven together in a college town where everyone is transient. Right now, there are a few people I work with in real life, and I'm always at our on-line rituals--which are lots of fun *grin*.
Now then, enough about me *grin*. Come to #Wicca and tell us a bit about yourself. Being the IRC junkie that I am, there is a good chance I'll be there. Oh, one last thing: I am also the co-runner of #Wolfsden, along with Wolfcry. Come visit us there, too *grin*.
Blessings and Fortune!
