Pagan

I was born in 1961 in an area of London called Stepney (which makes me a true Cockney). At the age of 7 I started having problems both at school and at home, the problem was that god was good and the devil bad, ok so far so good, according to the English church all witches look to the devil, hmmmmm this is where the problems set in, what about "good" witches, like they had in all the fairy tales?Even at the age of 7 I sort of got the idea that this needed more looking into. To confuse matters even more when I moved up a class (age 8) I met a school teacher who fired up my imagination with tales of the ancient Egyptian gods. By age 11 I was correcting my religious intruction teacher when she made references to the Egyptian pantheon.:)

Lets jump on a few years.......age 17 *very* angry young man I rebelled against everything.....until one day a woman came up to me ((I had just beaten her son to a pulp) this was before I started training in the martial arts) and said "I know a man you need to talk to".??????????????? was my reaction, but she insisted. But as the man in question was no stranger to me (the father of one of my earliest boyhood friends) I decided why the hell not, I'm not doing anything special right now. Well that was a meeting that changed my life.

He was a witch, or as I later learned a wiccan, we talked for a long time, covering just about any subject you can think of, at the end of our conversation his parting words were "keep your nose clean and I'll be in touch in about a year" Funny thing is, I did and so did he.There were *many* people who were against my joining their group, my reputation, unfortunately lasted longer than a year. But in the end I was admitted.

WOWOOWOWOWOWOOWOWWWW !

Did my life take a change !Unfortunately there was still a part of me that was not satisfied....my feet :) and after a while I started to travel, to this date I have lived in 6 different countries and visited 34. Finally (so far) settling in Sweden. I still have contact with the group and when ever I'm at home I always call to see if we can meet and share.Although the group was supposed to be traditional Wicca it had a lot of Celtic influences.

My journeys across the world and the fact that I've had to (spiritually) fend for myself for over a decade has led to a widening and deepening of my path. It was when I was at work one day when I was 18 that someone first called me Pagan (it was not meant as a compliment) it was because I had gone into the local cathedral on Dec 21 and offered the Bishop a sprig of mistletoe (its the one plant not allowed in christian churches) after that the name stuck and I'm eternally gratefull to the redneck who gave me the name. Because thats what I am, Heart, Soul and Body, Pagan.
