Barbarian

Merry Meet, Everyone! I've been on IRC Undernet #wicca since January, 1996, so I guess it's time I let a little more about me be known.

I was born in a small city in Louisiana called Monroe, on September, Friday the 13th, 1963, just before sunset; which makes me a Virgo, Leo Moon, Pisces rising. Ever since I can remember, I have always been fascinated by the spiritual. In 1975, when I was 12 years old, I came in contact with my first alternative (read NON-CHRISTIAN) spiritual experiences via my newly-divorced mother, who was searching for new meaning in her life at the time. This continued off and on until 1981, when I embarked upon a course of study (Silva Mind Control Method) which forever changed my life. I quickly became a student of astrology, numerology, and tarot, and delved even deeper into my studies of mythology and the Ancient Wisdom Teachings. In 1986, after I achieved my M.B.A, I moved from my home to Denton, Texas, to work on a doctors degree in Statistics through the University of North Texas. All through this time I was continuing my metaphysical/spiritual studies on the side. In late 1991, I discovered Wicca, and at the beginning of 1992, I pledged myself in service to the Ancient Gods and Goddesses; choosing the Nordic pantheon for my tradition. (I'm pretty much equal parts Celt, Frank, and Teuton in my racial stock.) Unable to find a suitable group with which to practice my beliefs (and being leery of groups in general), I decided to follow the solitary route.

Currently, I am a practitioner of Wicca, Northern Tradition (NOT Asatru). I am studying to become a runemaster. Professionally, I teach courses in the statistics department at UNT. My side interests include Computers and Internet (obviously), Outdoor activities, Social gatherings, Art (I paint and do craftwork), Music (Jazz, Alternative; play keyboards), Psychology (Jungian), light sports (non-competitive), and collecting weaponry (swords and battle axes). During the spring I also play a barbarian character at a regional renaissance festival; hence my nickname.

I really enjoy channel #wicca. Everyone I've met there has been extremely friendly and interesting to talk with, and I've made many new friends. I'm very easy-going and easy to get to know. I tend to be on the channel late nights my time (circa 10pm-1am CST) because of my schedule.

If you want to get a pretty accurate visual of me, I'm male, have longish dark gold hair (receding hairline), blue eyes, and have a fairly thick beard/mustache. I'm 6'1", somewhat overweight and tend to look rather husky.
