Merry meet, I'm Althea, aka, Carla to some. I'm fairly new to undernet #wicca, but since finding it, the channel has been a daily hangout for me. I hail from northeast Pennsylvania, where rednecks are plenty, and witches are few...hence my need for practicing solitary. Since I am still a "toddler" witch, and have yet to find the direction of my beliefs, I often seek the guidance of some on #wicca, who all have proven to be priceless to me as friends, and mentors.
I was born into a very liberal, hippy, christian family in the late sixties. I spent my early life learning more from my parents lifestyle than from thier christian beliefs. So it was natural for me, when the time was right, to find the Goddess, who was always there. Though some of my family members, are what you can say "dissappointed" in my choices...my father remains open minded about Wicca, and often seems even interested in learning what I know. He is definitely proud that the ideals that he has taught me, have led me to some type of belief system. To him it isn't important that I believe in christianity, but that I believe in something that brings joy to my life. Yes, my dad is cool, the coolest :)
I was born, raised, and educated here in Pennsylvania, though eventually, I hope to leave...(with this many rednecks around...wouldn't you want to leave as well? *grin*) I work at home, doing some writing and desktop graphics for a small local company. I enjoy being home with my "children", Jed, Jezebel, and Starr, who are canine, and Socks, and Ripple who are feline.
I am also a Deadhead, hence my nick, "althea"...a song that has been my favorite since a child...though a friend once told me that "althea" also meant "mighty goddess". When I'm not on the net, I enjoy listening to and trading bootleg tapes of Dead shows past, making hemp jewelry, vegetarian cooking, reading, road trips, and during the warmer months, hiking and camping.
